TRAVEL
After a few weeks of exploring colourful Medellin, we decided to take Miya on an adventure to the lush jungles of the Colombian coast. The only way to access the region is through a 45-minute flight on a prop plane from Medellin to the town of Nuquí and then a panga to the remote off-grid communities along the coast.
We woke up to a beautiful, sunny hot day. Our neighborhood is reminiscent of Europe. Recoleta feels old-timey. There were tree-lined avenues, cafes, patios, and parks everywhere.
A visit to the UNESCO World Heritage town of Colonia del Sacramento makes for a nice weekend trip from Buenos Aires, mixing quaint wanderings with some good eats and a slow-paced vibe.
Colonia feels a world’s away from bustling Buenos Aires. The oldest city in Uruguay --the streets are lined with cobblestones and colourful, distressed vine-draped buildings.
Driving into the rural countryside, we saw endless rolling green hills. Tucked in between banana trees and rows of coffee trees were colourful little farms. Jardin is a bright, colonial town full of bustling atmosphere.

When Miya turned four months old we decided to move to Medellin, Colombia for a month to explore this vibrant South American city with a complex and troubled past.
Even to Matt, I probably don’t say it enough, but parenthood is breathtaking. To have these feelings as a parent and to experience parenthood is an all-consuming feeling of warmth.
